Welcome

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the EUS Live @ Santiago de Compostela Organization committee I would like to greet you with the warmest welcome to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

We are very proud to present our excellent and distinguished faculty, consisting of some of the worldwide leading experts in the field of endoscopic ultrasound.

Together, we will try to bring you the latest developments and technologies related to endoscopic ultrasound, defining the role of this technique in several indications. We encourage you to actively participate in the various debates and discussions that will take part during the course.

The core element of this course is live demonstrations. We will try to show the pivotal role of endoscopic ultrasound in the management of several diseases in clinical practice. Our aim is to focus on teaching endoscopic ultrasound from indication to the procedure itself. During the course we will also have the opportunity to evaluate and discuss (based on different state of the art lectures and round tables) the current position of endoscopic ultrasound in different indications, and also to evaluate the more recent advances of this diagnostic and therapeutic method. In addiction, participants will have the chance to participate in different educational hand-on activities, including the use of the most recent devices, commercialy availables. Importantly, this course is meant for anyone with interest in endoscopic ultrasound.

We also want to welcome you to Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. Our amazing city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great, now the city's cathedral, as destination of the St. James Way, a leading Catholic pilgrimage route originated in the 9th century. In 1985 the city's Old Town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Santiago is the site of the University of Santiago de Compostela, established in the early 16th century. The main campus can be seen best from an alcove in the large municipal park in the center of the city. Within the old town there are many narrow winding streets full of historic buildings. The new town all around it has less character though some of the older parts of the new town have some big flats in them. We are sure that our city will get you in love, and that you will also have an excellent time visiting it.

We are committed to the success of this course and we are sure that you will enjoy this professional and personal experience,

See you soon,
